How It Works

Step 1 — Secondary Full-Load Amps (FLA)

FLA = kVA / ((V L-L / 1000) x sqrt(3))

Step 2 — Short-Circuit Current (SCA)

SCA = (FLA x 100) / %Z

Note: This is a simplified "worst case" infinite bus method. It calculates the maximum available short-circuit current at the transformer secondary and does not account for conductor impedance, source impedance, or motor contribution.
